RIVER SHOOK

(they/them)

Recording Artist | Songwriter (ASCAP) | Composer | Producer | Musician

While gaining notoriety fronting the country rock band Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, River spent the last decade writing and producing some of the most relevant, moving, no-bullshit country and indie rock songs of the modern era. Their unflinching drive to learn and evolve fuels lyrical themes from drowning in a double whiskey neat to sobering up to face hard truths, calling out mf-ers while being a self-admitted fuck up, righting past wrongs, and getting through the day with a little self-deprecating humor.

River's versatility is formidable, ranging from country songs like "Stone Door" (Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, 2024) that are every ounce as outlaw as Waylon and Willie, to driving Seattle-in-the-90s grunge tracks like "Killer Killer" (Mightmare, 2023). In the country music realm, we can witness their upward trajectory from the first Sarah Shook & the Disarmers record Sidelong (Bloodshot Records, 2017) to their fourth studio album and current release Revelations (Abeyance Records, Thirty Tigers, 2024).

In addition to writing, composing, and producing, River is a hypnotizing front-person. They tour around 150 days yearly in the USA, Canada, and Europe and have sold out shows from Los Angeles to New York City and Oslo to Madrid. River has played historic theaters in Stockholm, hole-in-the-wall dives in Chicago, and everything in between.

With each release, River and their bands garner accolades from the likes of Rolling Stone, Brooklyn Vegan, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Billboard, Paste, No Depression, etc, and River sees each positive review as a mandate and an inspiration to take everything to the next level on the next record, time after time.
